Cuba participates in meeting of the African Union Partners' Group for official presentation by the Vice-President of the Commission

Addis Ababa, April 29, 2025.- The Ambassador of Cuba to the African Union, Mr. Lucas D. Hernández Polledo, participated on Tuesday in an important meeting convened by the African Union (AU) Commission, through the AU Partners Group (AUPG), to officially present the recently elected Vice-President of the Commission,  H.E. Ms. Selma Malika Haddadi.

The event, held at the headquarters of the AU Commission, was attended by representatives of the diplomatic missions accredited to the organization, as well as international partners. During the meeting, strategic dialogue on AU programmatic and operational priorities was promoted, and the willingness of the participating countries to cooperate was reiterated.

In his exchange with the Vice President of the CUA, the Cuban Ambassador congratulated Haddadi on his appointment and conveyed the willingness of the Government of Cuba to continue strengthening the historical ties of solidarity and cooperation with Africa. He also reaffirmed the island's commitment to the development initiatives promoted by the African Union, in areas such as health, education, science and technology.

The meeting was co-sponsored by the embassies of Canada and Austria in Addis Ababa, countries that co-chair the AUPG, and took place in an atmosphere of multilateral collaboration, focused on strengthening alliances with the African continent.
