Cuba Pays Tribute to the Father Emir at the Qatari Embassy in Lebanon
Ambassador Jorge P. León Cruz signed the book of condolences opened at the Qatari Embassy in Lebanon, expressing, on behalf of the Cuban government and people, sincere condolences to the brotherly State of Qatar, its government, and its people, extended to the family and friends of His Highness the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The Qatari ambassador to Lebanon, His Excellency Mr. Saud bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani, thanked the Cuban diplomat, who had the privilege and honor of meeting His Highness personally and receiving his kindness and hospitality during his tenure as Cuba’s ambassador to Qatar (1998–2002) and on the occasion of His Highness the Emir’s various visits to Cuba and the historic visit of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz to Qatar in 2001.
Both sides agreed that the great Qatari leader was a good friend of Fidel and a lover of Cuba and its people, of whom he always held very fond memories and unforgettable recollections.
The Cuban ambassador confirmed that, in these moments of mourning and tribute, we join the Qatari people in honoring his memory and legacy, which serve as a model for Qatar and the world.
