Cuban Ambassador to India Alejandro Simancas highlighted the possibilities of cooperation in the film industry between the two countries, cradles of passionate creators and renowned artists of the seventh art.
Invited by the Marhwah Studios Complex, considered the first center dedicated to cinema in northern India, the Cuban diplomat was the guest of honor of the last day of the sixteenth Noida Global Film Festival in Uttar Pradesh.
Before the screening of the film "Tales of One More Day", by renowned director Fernando Perez, the president and founder of the studio and the AAFT Media and Arts University, Sandeep Marwah, presented Simancas with an award for his contribution to the strengthening of cultural collaboration between Cuba and India.
The diplomat spoke to the audience about the similarities between Indian and Cuban cultures, mainly in storytelling with a strong emphasis on music and dance. Simancas pointed out that in this sense there are great possibilities of collaboration between institutions of both countries. He also mentioned that Cuba is currently hosting the 44th edition of the New Latin American Film Festival, an event of great international prestige.
He thanked the warm welcome and interest in Cuba's culture on the part of the center's board, but mainly the students of the AAFT Media and Arts University, who represent the future not only as professionals in the arts in India, but also in journalism, tourism, among other sectors.
On the other hand, the Cuban ambassador invited Sandeep Marhwah to visit Cuba to be in contact with the reality of the Caribbean nation and its cinematographic creation.
Simancas also had the opportunity to talk with young students of the university of tourism and journalism who offered a small sample of Indian dishes about millet and other dishes based on Cuban culture.
Meanwhile, Marhwah explained to Prensa Latina that the Noida festival included the showing of films from more than 70 countries and gastronomic sessions related to the invited nations, a music and fashion parade, dance recitals, as well as photography and painting exhibitions.
There were also seminars, presentation of posters and books, in what he called a cinematographic spectacle with the objective of uniting nations through cinema.
