Vienna, January 28. Ambassador Pablo Berti Oliva participated in the presentation of the book “La roca de Sísifo:presente, pasado y futuro del regimen internacional de no proliferación nuclear” which took place on the evening of January 28 at the Cervantes Center in Vienna.
The event was attended by the authors, the distinguished researchers Ignacio Cartagena Nuñes and Vicente Garrido Revolledo, who were accompanied by Rafael Grossi, Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and prologist of the book, and allowed the attendees to participate in an academic dialogue on the political challenges we face in the field of disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation.
According to the authors, the book is a work of great value in times of uncertainty and lack of progress in multilateral nuclear disarmament negotiations. Although the current edition is only available in Spanish, it is foreseeable that it will be published in other languages in the future, preferably in English.
Through a rigorous review, the authors undertake an exhaustive examination of the instruments that today make up the international nuclear non-proliferation regime with emphasis on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Cuba actively participates in the activities organized by the Cervantes Center in Vienna, which on this occasion convened a dialogue between the diplomatic corps and the Spanish-speaking community on one of the most common areas of political work in Vienna.
