Addis Ababa, April 26, 2023. For the fifth consecutive time, the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) celebrated the Day of the Spanish Language, in conjunction with the Spanish-speaking Embassies accredited in Addis Ababa.
The acting executive secretary of ECA, Mr. Antonio Pedro, who was in charge of the opening words of the event, thanked those present for the preparation of the activity and their support for the strengthening of multilingualism and the use of the Spanish language as a way to strengthen relations in the region.
For his part, the head of the Cuban diplomatic mission, Ambassador Jorge Lefebre Nicolás, during his speech highlighted the particularities of the language on the Caribbean island, the expressions that characterize each region and the typical phrases of the Cuban vocabulary.
At the end of the activity, those present tasted typical dishes of the gastronomy of the countries present, who also established a stand in which they showed national symbols and photographs of the most representative sites of their countries.
