Cuba present the official launch of Lebanon's National Green Education Strategy Lebanon
Ambassador Jorge P. León Cruz made his presence felt at the official launch of Lebanon's National Green Education Strategy, an event sponsored by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, with presentations by Dr. Rima Karami, Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Tamara El Zein, Minister of Environment, and Laura Khazen Lahoud, Minister of Tourism. The ceremony, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE), the Center for Educational Research and Development (CERD), and the UNESCO Regional Office in Beirut, marked a significant national milestone in the integration of sustainability and environmental awareness into the country's education system.
The Cuban diplomat took the opportunity to share with some participants the public policies implemented by the Caribbean island in environmental protection, social inclusion in the design and implementation of regulatory instruments, and the special attention given to environmental outreach and education programs for the population.
The event brought together ministers, representatives of public institutions, UN agencies, civil society organizations, international partners, and donors who collectively contributed to the development of the Lebanese strategy, which reflects a shared national commitment to strengthening the role of education in responding to the environmental and climate crisis, in line with the call to action of the Transformation of Education Summit (TES) on Environmental Education.
