Cuba presents its National Report to the Joint Convention

Vienna, March 19.  Cuba presented its Third National Report during the Eighth Review Meeting of the Parties to the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management, which is being held at the headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency from March 17 to 28, 2025.

During the third day of work, the Cuban delegation carried out its presentation exercise in which the challenges and areas of good performance of our country were identified, mainly in relation to the Safety in Radioactive Waste Management.

Nuclear Engineer Lediansy Alemán González, from the Office of Regulation and Environmental Safety of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) and National Contact Point of the Joint Convention, made the technical presentation and responded to the questions posed by the Counterparts belonging to the Third Group of Countries.

Cuba has been a party to the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management since 2017 and since then every three years it submits its National Report on compliance with the guidelines of that area guided and controlled by the IAEA.
