Geneva, 11 April 2026. - The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, held a meeting with the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mirjana Spoljaric. Both sides noted the smooth nature of bilateral exchanges and the good state of existing relations.
During the dialogue, the Deputy Minister reaffirmed Cuba’s firm commitment to the defense and promotion of International Humanitarian Law, stressing the relevance of its respect in the current complex international scenario. In this context, the prospects for further strengthening communication and joint work were also addressed.
Also, the importance of deepening cooperation was highlighted, taking into account the challenges faced by the archipelago, in particular those arising from the economic, commercial and financial blockade, as well as the energy fence imposed by the US government. It was noted that these factors directly affect the country’s development and capabilities.
The exchange showed a shared willingness to advance a collaborative agenda based on humanitarian principles, mutual respect and adherence to international law, thus consolidating ties between Cuba and the ICRC in areas of common interest.
