Cuba ratifies defence of peace and security of Arab peoples
Cuba today reaffirms its defence of the peace and security of the Arab peoples in the context of Israel's attacks on occupied Palestine with the support of the United States.
Participating in the International Conference on Resistance and its axis between defence and aggression in this capital, the head of the Cuban mission in Lebanon, Jorge León Cruz, condemned Tel Aviv's recent military operation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
In his speech, the Antillean diplomat expressed his solidarity with the dead and wounded; at the same time he described the criminal action as a direct threat to stability and security in the Middle East.
León took the opportunity to reiterate his gratitude for the solidarity shown towards Cuba after the fire in oil storage tanks in the city of Matanzas, caused by a lightning strike during a storm on 7 August.
He also highlighted the accompaniment in condemning and demanding an end to the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States on the island for more than six decades.
In this regard, the Caribbean representative informed that next September the Cuban Resolution calling for an end to the US blockade will be presented to the United Nations General Assembly.
The political meeting convened by the World Meeting to support the choice of the resistance was attended by members of parties, political movements, academics, intellectuals and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country.
Participants stressed that resistance is the only way to liberate the land and restore rights in the Arab Levant, praising the unity of the Palestinian people in the battle for their sovereignty.
