Vienna. October 9. Cuba reaffirmed its commitment to preventing and combating the smuggling of migrants at the meetings of the Working Group on the Smuggling of Migrants, held on October 9 and 10 at the Vienna International Center.
Lieutenant Colonel Abel Martínez Grandio, head of the Technical Investigation Department and member of the Cuban delegation, emphasized that Cuba promotes legal, orderly, and safe emigration as a State Party to the Palermo Convention and the Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea, and Air.
Similarly, the expert reiterated Cuba's willingness to cooperate with all countries in combating the smuggling of migrants. The complexity of this phenomenon requires effective international cooperation to dismantle networks and their finances, while preserving the right of countries to apply their migration policies sovereignly.
