“Cuba Sí”: 100 Years with Fidel

Vienna, June 26, 2026 – The Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG) has published the June issue of its magazine “Cuba Sí,” dedicated to the start of the commemorations marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and Army General Raúl Castro Ruz. The publication, a monthly print magazine, has established itself as the most objective source for understanding the reality of Cuba and the solidarity initiatives taking place in Austria.

The June issue highlights the most significant moments of Raúl Castro’s 95th birthday, which was also celebrated during the “Fiesta de la Calle por Cuba” (Street Festival for Cuba) organized by the ÖKG, and provides a comprehensive overview of the activities planned for the commemorative program marking the centennial of Fidel’s birth, which includes cultural, academic, and grassroots initiatives throughout the island. The magazine highlights the role of the Army General as the guardian of Fidel’s legacy and his continued commitment to defending the Cuban Revolution.

In its pages, “Cuba Sí” reflects the growing solidarity movement in Austria and Europe, with reports on donation campaigns, cultural events, and days of action denouncing the blockade that the ÖKG is organizing in Vienna, Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Carinthia, Salzburg, and Graz. The publication has become an informational bridge between Austria and Cuba, offering a perspective committed to truth and social justice.

With this issue of the magazine, the ÖKG reaffirms its commitment to stand with the Cuban people in a year of particular historical significance, keeping alive Fidel’s call for resistance and internationalist solidarity, while denouncing the intensification of the U.S. blockade—manifested in the executive orders of January 29 and May 1, 2026—and refuting the false accusations  leveled against  the leader at the helm of the Revolution, Raúl Castro
