Vienna May 1st. Austrian trade union movements, representatives of political forces and friends in solidarity made Cuba a direct participant in the May 1st celebrations in Austria.
From the early hours of this Thursday, followers of the Austrian Communist Party (KPÖ) occupied the vicinity of the Austrian Parliament carrying among their demands for social and labor improvements, the right of Cuba to live without blockade and demanding the end of that injustice.
In other points of the city, the Party of Labor (PdA) paraded with the Cuban flag and posters in support of Cuba, in recognition of the admiration for the Revolution and as an example of the Cuban people for the international proletariat.
The Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG) and the Communist Youth (KJÖ) also carried out actions with exhibition stands, posters demanding the end of the blockade and with symbols of the Caribbean country. This initiative was also replicated by their cells in other Austrian cities.
Traditionally, an Austrian representation accompanies the Cuban people in the celebrations of International Workers' Day, participating in the solidarity camps and in other initiatives. On this occasion, the President of the ÖKG and the President of the Kuratorium of the Association are in Cuba to celebrate this important day with the people.
