Addis Ababa, May 7, 2025.- At the headquarters of the African Union, the Ambassador of Cuba to the organization, Lucas Domingo Hernández Polledo, held a cordial and fruitful meeting with Mr. Mohamed El-Amine Souef, Chief of the Cabinet of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
During the meeting, the Cuban Ambassador expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity for dialogue and cooperation, as well as for the support provided in the preparation of the meeting held in March during an official visit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, with the newly elected Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
Both parties highlighted the historic ties of friendship and solidarity that unite Cuba and the African continent, and agreed on the importance of strengthening collaboration in key areas, as well as in joint efforts for peace and sustainable development in Africa.
Mr. Mohamed El-Amine Souef reiterated the commitment of the African Union Commission to political dialogue and multilateral cooperation with Cuba, recognizing the role of the island in the training of African human resources, as well as its contribution in times of health emergency on the continent.
The meeting reaffirms the mutual will to continue deepening ties between Cuba and the African Union, in line with the principles of respect, reciprocity and mutual benefit that govern their historical relations.
