Nassau, March 18, 2024. The Cuban ambassador Julio César González Marchante in the company of the Head of Educational Collaboration, Ángela San Martín Corrales, participated in the Annual celebration of Foreign Languages Week, sponsored by the Department of Languages of the University of the Bahamas.
The event was chaired by Dr. Janyne Hodder, President of the University.
In his speech, the Cuban diplomat expressed gratitude for the invitation and highlighted the Cuban collaboration that has remained in the Bahamas for 20 uninterrupted years, while ratifying Cuba's willingness to continue strengthening the scientific-educational exchange between the two countries through various ways.
Likewise, he highlighted that learning and knowing languages opens a universal vision, develops the cultural level of any person and allows us to work together to face great challenges for a better world. A world without coercive measures like those that have been imposed on the Cuban people for more than 6 decades, a world without a genocidal war like the one carried out against the Palestinian people.
A significant moment, which the auditorium filled with applause, was the performance of the Cuban song with verses by Jose Martí, Guantanamera, performed by high school students in the Bahamas who are members of the concert band.
