Addis Ababa, March 3, 2025.- The Ambassador of Cuba to the African Union (AU), Lucas Domingo Hernández Polledo, held a fruitful meeting with the Directorate of Citizenship and Diaspora of the African Union (CIDO-AU), and with its director, Angela Naa Afoley Odai, with the aim of exchanging experiences and strengthening cooperation between Africa and the Sixth Region.
During the meeting, both parties highlighted the importance of the African diaspora, recognized as the Sixth Region of the AU, in the development of the continent and the consolidation of historical and cultural ties with Latin America and the Caribbean. In this context, the Cuban diplomat reiterated Cuba's commitment to African unity and its firm will to promote joint initiatives in key areas.
Both parties also agreed on the need to strengthen ties between the African Union and the diaspora, promoting collaboration mechanisms that contribute to sustainable development and the integration of the Sixth Region into the strategies of the continental organization.
