Montreal, September 4 – On Tuesday morning, Cuban Ambassador to Canada, H.E. Mrs. Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, payed a work visit to the President of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council, Dr. Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, and Secretary General of ICAO, Dr. Fang Liu, at ICAO Headquarters in Montreal.
The meetings were held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere. ICAO officials highlighted the positive results, in terms of operational safety and aviation security, of the audit to Cuba´s Aeronautics Authority, and reassured ICAO´s commitment to support, assist and cooperate with Cuba.
Cuban Ambassador Josefina Vidal Ferreiro underscored the significance that Cuba attaches to ICAO, owing to its contribution to safety and efficiency of civil aviation, and reiterated the willingness of the Cuban government to maintain its permanent cooperation with ICAO and contribute to the fulfillment of the strategic goals of the organization. Ambassador Vidal Ferreiro also praised the “No Country Left Behind” Initiative, which aim is to assist less developed countries in improving their effective implementation of ICAO standards.
The Cuban delegation included Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Cuba, Giuvel Orozco Ortega, Permanent Representative of Cuba to ICAO, Mrs. Mirta Crespo Frasquieri, and Technical expert at the Cuban Representation to ICAO, Juan José Cruz Acosta.
