Ottawa, October 10, 2018 – On Wednesday night Cuban Ambassador to Canada Her Excellency Josefina Vidal Ferreiro attended the closing session of the Ottawa-Cuba Connections (OCC) Friendship Association Annual Meeting.
In her address, Ambassador Josefina Vidal conveyed her congratulations to the newly elected members of OCC executive board and expressed her thankfulness for their continued support to Cuba in denouncing the unjust US Blockade against the Island and for their contribution to disseminate Cuba´s reality across Canada.
The Cuban diplomat seized the opportunity to reiterate that US blockade continues to cause serious damage not only to the Cuban people itself and the nation´s economy but also to Cuba´s relations with other countries due its extra-territorial nature.
Moreover, Ambassador Vidal Ferreiro talked about the significant ongoing process of constitutional reform and popular debate and consultation, which involves Cubans living inside and outside the Island.
Gabriel LeBlanc, a solidary Canadian, related his most recent experience as a member of the Che Guevara International Brigade and spoke about the visit program in Havana and Camagüey prepared by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples.
The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere and served to reaffirm OCC´s commitment to support Cuba.
