Addis Ababa, December 9, 2021. This morning, Cuban Ambassador designate to Ethiopia, Jorge Lefebre Nicolás, presented his Copies of Credentials to the Chief of Protocol ad interim of the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Alemayehu Sewagen, at the headquarters of that governmental institution.
Both parties reviewed issues of bilateral interest and the situation in the two countries.
Ambassador Jorge Lefebre expressed Cuba's willingness to continue working on strengthening relations between the two countries, as well as promoting cooperation in various sectors such as health, education, biotechnology and in the production of sugar cane and coffee. He also thanked Ethiopia for its support in the fight for lifting the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, for more than 60 years.
On his part, Ambassador Alemayehu commented that they hope to strengthen friendship and solidarity between the two governments and peoples, especially at present, when the two nations are suffering from US sanctions. Likewise, he raised the interest of his government in promoting bilateral cooperation with Cuba in various key sectors for its economy.
