Addis Ababa, February 26, 2025.- The Ambassador of Cuba to Ethiopia, Meylin Suárez Álvarez, visited the Ethiopian Sugar Industry Group this morning, where she held a fruitful meeting with its Executive Director, Mr. Weyo Roba.
During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to the agreement signed in February 2024 between the Ethiopian Group and the Azcuba Sugar Group, which covers areas such as research and development, production and technical assistance.
Progress in the implementation of joint projects was discussed, highlighting the importance of technology transfer and knowledge exchange to optimize sugar production. In addition, new opportunities for collaboration in other areas related to the sector were explored.
Ambassador Suárez Álvarez, emphasized Cuba's willingness to share its vast experience in the sugar industry, while Mr. Roba highlighted Ethiopia's potential in this area and the relevance of bilateral cooperation to achieve common goals.
Other directors of technical and productive areas of the Ethiopian Sugar Group also participated in the meeting, who provided technical perspectives to enrich the dialogue and strengthen the ties of collaboration between the two nations.
This meeting reaffirms the historic relationship between Cuba and Ethiopia and underscores the mutual commitment to advance projects that promote sustainable development and the well-being of their peoples.
