Cuban ambassador explores business with Indian machinery firm

New Delhi, June 27: Cuba's ambassador to India, Oscar Martinez, visited the tractor factory company Escorts, near this capital, in order to explore business opportunities.

During his tour for the factory, located in the city of Faridabad, in the neighboring state of Haryana, the diplomat explained the benefits of business and investment opportunities on the island to the company agents.  Among them he cited the Mariel Special Development Zone, located in the east of Havana, and the new foreign investment law.

Meanwhile, Rajiv Wahi, head of the international business division of Escorts, explained to visitors the characteristics of the designs of tractors, the Farmtrac brand, and the wide range of construction machinery.

Wahi considered that the company equipment is suitable for operation in Cuba and as an example cited the tractors 25 and 39 horses force appropriate for small producers, considering that are simple but efficient, strong and easy to maintain appliances.

He also referred to the possibility of investing in the Caribbean island to mount an assembly plant in the near future.

The businessman said that Escorts, founded in 1948, exports machinery to more than 50 countries on five continents, including the United States, Canada, Brazil and Chile. (Prensa Latina- Cubaminrex/ EmbaCubaIndia)
