Cuban ambassador gives lecture at the University of Vienna on Cuba's reality and its international projection

Vienna, May 7, 2025.- The Cuban Ambassador to Austria, Pablo Berti Oliva, gave a lecture at the University of Vienna before a score of young Austrian students, in an event organized by the Communist Youth of Austria (KJÖ) and the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG).

During his speech, the Cuban diplomat addressed topics of great interest on the reality of the country and its international projection, among which stood out the role of Cuba in the decolonization processes of the African continent and the international medical cooperation provided by the island. The negative impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States and the inclusion of the country in the illegal and unilateral list of State sponsors of terrorism drawn up by the U.S. State Department were also mentioned.

The Ambassador denounced the extraterritorial nature of this policy, which affects not only the Cuban people, but also European institutions and companies, including in the three countries under the attention of the Embassy in Vienna, namely Austria, Croatia and Slovenia. He also stressed how the U.S. economic siege is the main obstacle to the economic and social development of the country.

The presentation was followed with great interest by the young people present, who asked questions and shared their opinions on the topics discussed, in a space of enriching dialogue and solidarity with the people of the country.
