Goa, November 22nd 2025- Cuba’s Ambassador to India, Juan Carlos Marsan Aguilera, along with the First Secretary, Maiky Díaz Pérez participated in the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which takes place in the state of Goa.
Both diplomats took part in the opening of the event, chaired by Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Information and Broadcasting of India, and Mr. Pramod Sawant, Head of Government of the state of Goa, in which it was highlighted its importance as a prestigious platform for cinema exchange between countries, production companies, film directors and artists from various parts of the world.
As part of the programme, a Round Table of Ambassadors on Co-production was organized, which was attended by the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting of India, Mr. Dr. L Murugan and the Deputy Minister of that body, Mr. Sanjay Jaju. In his speech, the Cuban Ambassador underlined our country’s rich cinematographic heritage and highlighted the Cultural Memorandum of Understanding recently signed with India, which provides a general framework for bilateral exchanges, including on film co-production.
Likewise, the director of our country expressed Cuba’s interest in presenting a film at IFFI 2026 and promoting India’s participation in the 46th edition of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana, to be held from 4 to 14 December.
In a brief exchange with the Minister of State, Dr. Murugan, both parties shared the interest of promoting collaboration in this area, which has such an impact on connecting and bringing together peoples and their cultures.
