Port of Spain. On Monday afternoon, the Ambassador of Cuba, His Excellency Gustavo Véliz, was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, the Honorable Senator Dr. Amery Browne.
During the cordial exchange, which was also attended by the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, Ms. Reita Toussaint, the Minister reiterated Trinidad and Tobago's support for the lifting of the economic, commercial, and financial embargo imposed by the United States against Cuba and called for the definitive removal of Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
The Ambassador expressed Cuba's interest in continuing to expand the relations of friendship and solidarity between the two countries and thanked Trinidad and Tobago and the CARICOM countries for their support against the blockade on Cuba.
The meeting provided a suitable framework to review several issues related to the bilateral agenda between the two countries and to confirm the brotherhood between both nations.
