The New Year´s Reception hosted by the Mayor of the city of Vienna, Dr. Michael Ludwig to the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Austrian capital was an appropriate occasion for the Cuban Ambassador, His Excellency, Mr. Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios and the distinguished host to extensively talk about the bonds of friendship and cooperation existing between Havana and Vienna and to reaffirm their readiness to continue strengthening them.
The Cuban Ambassador informed his counterpart about the arrangements which are being done in Havana to celebrate the 500 anniversary of its foundation this year, and he took advantage of the occasion to reiterate the Viennese Mayor the invitation to visit the Cuban capital. Besides, he thanked the cooperation with Vienna´s City Hall to deliver a donation of 10 solid waste collection trucks, resuming the similar projects executed between both cities in 2000 and 2001.
On the other hand, Mr. Ludwig expressed his appreciation for the invitation and reaffirmed the Austrian city´s support and sympathy with Havana and Cuba, in general terms.
