Cuban Ambassador Holds Meeting with the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas

Nassau, The Bahamas, June 12, 2026. On Friday morning, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Juan Carlos Marcof Sánchez, paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Philip Davis, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. Also in attendance were Creswell Sturrup, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, and Jerusa Ali, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Cuban delegation was accompanied by Imara López Benedico, First Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba.

During the meeting, Ambassador Marcof Sánchez highlighted the deep historical ties that unite the two countries, founded on mutual respect, solidarity, and cooperation across multiple areas, both bilaterally and within multilateral forums. He also reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to continue strengthening bilateral relations. The occasion provided an opportunity to express gratitude to the Government of The Bahamas, and particularly to the Prime Minister, for his support and personal efforts in advocating for Cuba in the fight against the blockade.

For his part, Prime Minister Davis reiterated The Bahamas' longstanding position against the blockade and underscored the positive state of relations between the two countries, which has enabled collaborative initiatives to be developed in a variety of sectors.
