Nassau, February 25th, 2021. Cuban Ambassador Alejandro García del Toro met today with Clarence A. Russell, Director of Immigration, with whom he exchanged on ways to maintain and solidify ties in this matter. I find it useful, in a frank atmosphere of Caribbean friendship.

Taking advantage of the common interest to advance in bilateral relations and the facilities of technology, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas and the ambassador of Cuba in that Caribbean country held a virtual working meeting with the goal of reviewing and promoting bilateral issues.

The Bahamian expert on Economy Kevin Alcena, a close friend of Cuba in this archipelago, described as absurd the recent designation of our country as a state sponsor of terrorism by Secretary of State Michael Pompeo. In an article published on the social network Medium, the academic stated that "there is no way to substantiate this statement nor is there any justification for it," adding that by making an "exhaustive examination of all the readily available factual information, there is no a legitimate mandate that coincides with this statement against Cuba”.

In a Caribbean environment, and trying to soften the nerves of future Bahamian doctors, we said goodbye to three young people from this nation who will travel to Cuba next Monday to study Medicine. Despite of the complexities and challenges imposed by Covid19 in our countries: Jade, Giovanni and Dreyson feel that the time has come to face a major challenge; but they are convinced that their effort will be worth it.

Nassau, December 22th, 2020. In The Bahamas, the Cuban teaching profession is also present. The “Félix Varela” Educational Brigade with its 53 members does an outstanding job and has earned a reputation among parents, students and managers of the Bahamian education system. Other Cuban teachers also work in independent educational institutions and their professionalism is recognized. Congratulations to all the teachers from the Cuban Embassy in The Bahamas on this special day.

The Bahamas, 14 September 2017. - It was of great sadness to learn of the loss of life and the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma in Cuba. The Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas extends its heartfelt condolences to the family members of the deceased, the people and the Government of the Republic of Cuba.

 

The people of The Bahamas will continue to pray for the victims and their families and they send best wishes for a quick recovery of the survivors of the storm.
