Nassau, February 3rd, 2020. On this afternoon, Cuban Ambassador Alejandro García del Toro paid a courtesy visit to the honorable Mr. Jeffrey L. Lloyd, minister of Education of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
In the meeting they highlighted the importance of the cooperation that Cuba has offered in different educational areas during the last sixteen years. The minister described the contribution of Cuban teachers as invaluable, and made special mention to the teachers of special education, who along with those of technical and general education have worked in this archipelago since August 2003.
They also discussed the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding between the ministries of Education of the two countries in order to continue cooperation and increase actions in different areas, including the realization of educational and cultural exchanges between students from both countries.
Together with Minister Lloyd, the permanent secretary of that institution Lorraine Ambrister participated. The ambassador was accompanied by José Reinel García Sánchez, representative of the Ministry of Education for collaboration in the neighboring Caribbean country.
