Cuba Participates in the BRICS SME Forum
Cuba's Ambassador to India, Juan Carlos Marsan Aguilera, participated representing Cuba in the BRICS SME Forum, which took place on June 19 and 20, 2026, in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of the Indian government, as part of its Pro Tempore Presidency program of the BRICS, with the Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industries of India (ASSOCHAM) acting as co-organizer.
The event was held under the theme 'Best Practices and Case Studies in the SME Ecosystem.'
In his speech, Ambassador Marsan highlighted the strong potential of this sector for the growth and development of our country. We referred to the adverse context imposed by the escalation of the unjust sanctions by the U.S. government, including the oil supply blockade, which significantly impact everything the sectors of the Cuban population, including MSMEs.
He also highlight the recent decisions and measures adopted by Parliament aimed at boosting the country's economic and social development, which expand and strengthen the role of MSMEs in the Cuban economic and social model. Participating in this event allowed us to meet and greet the Minister of MSME of India, Deputy Minister Shri Bharat Harbansal Khera, and other officials from that body, to whom we conveyed our interest in establishing collaborative relations with the National Institute of Non-State Economic Actors of Cuba (INAENE). In general, there was interest in the situation in Cuba, receiving signs of affection for our people and rejection of the aggressive policy of the USA.
The Ambassador was accompanied by the Second in Mission, Guadalupe Frómeta Gómez, in charge of bilateral economic and trade relations.
