On Tuesday, Cuban Ambassador Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz met with the co-chairs of the Canada-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group, Deputy Gabriel Ste-Marie and Senator Judy White. The meeting, arranged following the resumption of parliamentary activity in Canada, aimed to discuss the group's actions in the newly elected legislature.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the main activities to be carried out to strengthen interparliamentary ties between the two countries further, as well as the actions to conclude the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of bilateral relations between Cuba and Canada.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to update members of the Canadian Parliament on the current situation in Cuba, which has been significantly impacted by the US-imposed economic and commercial blockade and its policy of financial and energy persecution.
The Cuban delegation at the meeting included Dany Tur de la Concepción, the Deputy Head of Mission, and Mariset Vázquez, First Secretary.
