Cuban Ambassador Meets with the New Federal Leadership of the Communist Youth of Austria (KJÖ)

Vienna, April 17. Cuba’s ambassador to Austria, Pablo Berti Oliva, held a meeting with the new federal leadership of the Communist Youth of Austria (Kommunistische Jugend Österreichs, KJÖ), led by its federal president, Simon Riedl, and the head of international relations, Alessandro Zoufal.

During the exchange, both sides discussed issues of mutual interest, with special emphasis on the youth organization’s active participation in solidarity activities with Cuba. Ambassador Berti Oliva acknowledged the KJÖ’s historic commitment to the Cuban cause and its role in denouncing the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

The KJÖ leaders reaffirmed their willingness to continue strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation with Cuba, as well as to intensify solidarity actions in Austria, particularly among the younger generations.

Over the past year, the KJÖ has carried out intensive solidarity work with Cuba, which also included its participation in the “Our America Convoy for Cuba,” a mobilization demanding an end to the economic blockade against the island. Likewise, the organization has on multiple occasions issued public statements condemning the blockade, supporting the Cuban Revolution, and rejecting the inclusion of Cuba on the spurious list of state sponsors of terrorism.
