The Ambassador of Cuba, Sergio Vigoa de la Uz, visited the residence of the Founding Father, Dr. Sam Nujoma, and expressed condolences on behalf of the Cuban people and Government to his son, Honourable Utoni Nujoma, Minister of Labor of Namibia.
The diplomat recalled the meeting held between the First President of this African nation and Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People´s Power and the Council of State, during his visit to Namibia in February 2024 to participate in the funeral of the late president Hage Geingob.
In the exchange, they remembered how, for more than two hours, Dr. Nujoma talked about the friendship with Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and the close relationship between the SWAPO combatants and the Cubans, during the struggle for the independence of Namibia.
Vigoa de la Uz signed the book of condolences opened in memory of Dr. Nujoma. “The world lost an icon of the fight against the apartheid regime, Namibia one of its best sons, and Cuba an extraordinary friend. On behalf of the people and Government of Cuba we convey our deepest condolences to the Namibian government and people, friends, and family of the beloved president,” he wrote.
