Namibia was going through difficult days, in full national mourning that month of February 2024, after the death of the third President of the Republic, Dr. Hage G. Geingob. The entire country was saying goodbye to one of its most illustrious sons. Windhoek brought together numerous personalities from the African nation and international leaders who accompanied the Namibian people in those moments of posthumous homage to the deceased president.
“It is profoundly painful to know of the pass away of Cuba's great friend, Sam Nujoma, Founding Father and first President of Namibia, who led his people in the fight for independence and against Apartheid. Heartfelt condolences to the brother Namibian people, to family and friends”, President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez published on his X account.

Excellency President-Elect,
On behalf of the Namibia-Cuba Friendship Association, and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to extend to Your Excellency our warm congratulations on your historic electoral victory, as President-Elect of the Republic of Namibia.
Ambassador Sergio Vigoa of the Uz participated in the farewell of Professor Ndapandula Martha Shilyomunhu, founding principal of the Fidel Castro Ruz primary school.
“Our dear Martha and the group she has led have had the best model of virtue and purity, the paradigm that inspires and guides us: Fidel Castro Ruz, who stood out for always setting an example, for his vocation as a social educator and his stature ethics and morality,” the Cuban diplomat expressed in his speech.
