Cuban ambassador participates in Grulac meeting with the Lebanese Parliament's International Affairs Commission
Ambassador Jorge León Cruz, together with the members of GRULAC, held a fruitful meeting with the chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Lebanese National Assembly, Fadi F. Alame, and the members of the committee.
During the meeting, the ambassadors of Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Cuba, Venezuela and Mexico, present in the parliamentary chamber, received a comprehensive explanation and presentations from the deputies on the impact of the Israeli attacks on Lebanon since October 8, 2024.
Human impacts of Israeli attacks: 437 killed, over 1,500 injured, 87,528 people displaced (98% to Beirut).
Displacement compensation needs amount to about $9 billion and medical treatment to about $40 million.
Some 2,700 homes have been totally destroyed, more than 34,000 partially damaged, 12,000 hectares of land totally burned by bombing, mostly white phosphorus, causing a sensitive change of the natural ecosystem of the Lebanese south, toxicity and others.
Damage to schools, institutions, housing, infrastructure, etc., amounted to more than 1.7 billion dollars.
It was noted that Lebanon requires support from the international community to stop the Israeli attacks and prevent aggression, as well as to receive the necessary assistance from the international community.
