Beirut, November 4, 2020. The Cuban Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, was part of a plenary of Latin American and Caribbean Heads of Mission that met with the acting Lebanese Foreign Minister, Charbel Wehbi.
The conversation focused on the complex political, economic, social and epidemiological situation in the country of cedars and the need for the new executive to implement urgent measures to revitalize the national economy.
In a general sense, the historic friendly relations between Lebanon and the countries of the region that gave shelter to millions of Lebanese immigrants, who today are part of all our nations, were addressed. Wehbi thanked the Latin American and Caribbean countries for welcoming his compatriots with open arms.
The Cuban ambassador for his part referred to the epidemiological and economic situation in Cuba, highlighting the successes of the Greater Antilles in its confrontation with the pandemic, including the development of several vaccines against Covid-19. The Head of the Diplomatic Mission also addressed the difficult economic situation that his country is going through due to the negative effects of the pandemic, but especially due to the intensification of the blockade imposed by the United States in the last 4 years.
