Cuban ambassador participates in tribute to Gabriela Mistral in Lebanon
Ambassador Jorge P. León Cruz attended the tribute marking the 80th anniversary of Gabriela Mistral's Nobel Prize in Literature, in a moving ceremony organised by the Chilean Embassy and the Cervantes Institute in Beirut.
Mr Ignacio Olmos, director of the Institute, opened the event, with the keynote speech given by Ambassador Marcos Correa Letelier, who offered an overview of the life and work of the Chilean poet, diplomat, teacher and educator.
A documentary was also screened and an exhibition on the writer's career was displayed.
The occasion provided an opportunity for the Cuban diplomat to comment and exchange views with colleagues and other attendees on Gabriela Mistral's visits to Cuba and the writings she dedicated to our National Hero, highlighting her appreciation and admiration for the Apostle's literary work.
