The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Liberia, H.E. Dr. Indira López Argüelles, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Elijah F. Rufus, Commissioner General of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS).
During the cordial meeting, the Ambassador provided an update on Cuba’s current economic situation, highlighting the serious impact of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade, as well as the energy blockade and restrictions on fuel supplies, which have further aggravated the country’s energy situation.
The Ambassador explained the challenges these measures continue to pose for the Cuban people and the national economy.
Both sides also exchanged views on immigration and consular matters, as well as on the importance of continued institutional cooperation. They agreed that the meeting was an excellent opportunity to strengthen communication and further promote the friendly relations between Cuba and Liberia.
