Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cuba to the International Organizations in Vienna, Mrs. Loipa Sánchez Lorenzo presented her Credentials to H.E. Mr. LI Yong, Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Both representatives highlighted the excellent cooperation relations between Cuba and the Organization and the successful implementation of the Cuba-UNIDO Country Programme (2016-2020), which includes cooperation projects in the industrial and energy sectors, and promotes foreign investment in Cuba, in accordance with national priorities and in line with the United Nations cooperation framework 2020-2024. They expressed interest in providing continuity to the Country Programme, focusing on priority sectors such as renewable energy, water resources, food and addressing the effects of climate change.
Cuba is a founding member of UNIDO and is part of its Industrial Development Board and Programme and Budget Committee.
