H.E. Mrs. Loipa Sánchez Lorenzo, presented her Letters of Credence that accredit her as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Austria, to the Federal President of that country, H.E. Mr. Alexander Van der Bellen, in a solemn ceremony at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna.
On that occasion, the Ambassador conveyed to the President of the Republic of Austria the greetings of the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, at the time she expressed her readiness to continue strengthening the relations between our countries.
During the official hearing held after the ceremony, both authorities highlighted the ties of friendship existing between Cuba and Austria, whose diplomatic relations have steadily developed for more than 73 years.
They highlighted the positive bilateral ties existing in different sectors such as culture, science, law and the interest in continuing advancing in the economic-commercial sectors, focusing on renewable energy and tourism.
The Ambassador thanked Austria for its support for the Cuban people's claim to end the economic, commercial, and financial blockade that the United States has maintained against Cuba for almost 60 years.
At the end of the hearing, the Cuban Ambassador received military honors, in accordance with the Austrian protocol.
