Cuban Ambassador is received by the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis

Basseterre, January 16, 2026—On Thursday afternoon, the Honorable Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, received Giuvel Orozco Ortega, Cuba's ambassador to the Caribbean island, at the Government Headquarters.

During the cordial meeting, they discussed the good state of bilateral relations and the bonds of brotherhood that unite both natios, as well as the willingness to continue expanding exchanges and cooperative relations in areas of mutual interest.

The Cuban diplomat thanked Saint Kitts and Nevis for its standing solidarity with the Cuban people's demand for putting an end to the US economic, financial, and commercial blockade against Cuba, as well as for the exclusion of the Greater Antilles from the manipulated list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

For his part, the Caribbean leader thanked Cuba for its cooperation and for training young people in various specialties at Cuban universities, highlighting the teaching of medicine at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Both representatives also exchanged views on the regional geopolitical scenario, challenges, threats, and the obligation to respect International Law and the United Nations Charter.

For his part, the Cuban ambassador explained Cuba's firm rejection of US imperialist policy and the US government's continuous threats against the Cuban people. He also emphasized Cuba's resistance to any aggression and the systematic willingness of the government of Cuba to engage in serious and responsible dialogue with successive US administrations, provided that such dialogue is based on sovereign equality, mutual respect, compliance with International Law, mutual benefit, non-interference in internal affairs, and full respect for Cuba's independence.
