The Cuban ambassador, Jorge P. León Cruz, signed the book of condolences opened at the Nunciature in Beirut on the occasion of the death of His Holiness Pope Francis and highlighted the significant contribution of the Supreme Pontiff to the strengthening of relations between the Holy See and Cuba.

And on behalf of the Cuban government and people, he expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Holy See, the family members and the Catholic community for the sensitive loss of a man who was an example in the defense of peace, fraternity and the search for solutions to the pressing problems of humanity.
