Cuban Ambassadors participate in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Soviet Victory over Nazism

Addis Ababa, May 9, 2025.- The Ambassadors of Cuba to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Meylin Suárez, and to the African Union, Lucas Domingo Hernández, participated in the celebrations organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Ethiopia to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazism in World War II.

The solemn ceremony was led by the Russian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Yevgeny Terekhin, who recalled the heroic sacrifice of the Soviet people and paid tribute to the more than 27 million Soviet citizens, both military and civilian, who lost their lives during the conflict. In his words, he highlighted the historical significance of the victory of May 9, 1945 as a symbol of resistance, unity and defense of humanity against the barbarity of fascism.

The event was attended by ambassadors and diplomats accredited in the country, as well as senior officials of the Ethiopian government. Cultural presentations and historical testimonies were also held that evoked the memory of those who gave their lives in defense of freedom and world peace.

The Cuban Ambassadors expressed, on behalf of the Cuban people, their respect and admiration for the feat of the Soviet people, as well as the firm will to preserve historical memory as a tool to build a more just and war-free world.
