The Cuban delegation to the International Forum Global Campaign for the Return to Palestine, composed of Dr. Aleida Guevara March and Alfredo Deriche, and accompanied by the head of mission Jorge León Cruz, visited the borders of occupied Palestine, together with the delegates participating in this important world event.

The tour began with the laying of a wreath at the monument to the Lebanese Mleeta resistance that confronted the Israeli military occupation forces in the village of Khiam, in southern Lebanon, near the city of Nabatieh.

In Maroun al-Ras, on the Lebanese border, the delegates viewed occupied Palestine and visited the Khiam prison, a former detention center turned museum, in honor of the Lebanese resistance prisoners imprisoned by the Israeli occupation.

Khiam prison, founded in 1933 by the French colonial mandate in Lebanon, was converted by the Israelis into a detention camp where thousands of Palestinians and Lebanese were detained and tortured by Israel. The prison was converted into a museum in 2000. Israeli aircraft destroyed the museum during its 2006 bombing campaign. The site has become an important place of visitation and tribute in Lebanon.

Finally, the delegation visited the Mleeta Resistance museum where one can appreciate the remains of Israeli tanks, helicopters and dozens of military equipment that were destroyed and abandoned by the Zionists, after being defeated by the heroism of the resistance and the sacrifice of the martyrs who liberated southern Lebanon.
