Addis Ababa, July 24, 2024. - The Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elio Rodríguez Perdomo, met with the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, H.E. Mr. Misganu Arga Moach. During the meeting, Cuba's willingness to deepen political-diplomatic ties was conveyed, as well as to expand and strengthen cooperation relationships. The historic ties of brotherhood between the two countries were also highlighted.
Deputy Minister Rodriguez thanked Ethiopia for its traditional support for the Cuban resolution against the blockade approved every year by the UN General Assembly as well as the Ethiopia's support for the African Union resolution that called for the end of this criminal policy, and especially for the demand of this regional organization to remove Cuba from the spurious list of the U.S. Department of State on countries that sponsor terrorism.
As a result of the visit, it was signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba on Bilateral Consultations.
The Cuban Ambassador to Ethiopia, Jorge Lefebre Nicolas and other officials of that diplomatic mission were also present on the Cuban side.
