Nassau, July 10, 2023. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Aviation and Investment H.E Chester Cooper, the Minister of Education Glenys Hanna-Martin and the Minister of Labor and Public Services Alfred Sears received, separately, the Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba Inés Mary Chapman Waugh.
In the respective meetings, both parties expressed their satisfaction at sharing the celebrations for the 50th Anniversary of the Independence of The Bahamas and ratified their willingness to strengthen existing cooperation and expand it to new areas.
The local ministers reiterated the rejection of the sanctions against Cuba.
Present at the talks were the director of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Gustavo Daniel Véliz Olivares, and Ambassador Julio César González Marchante.
The activities culminated with the State Reception offered by the Governor General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas H. E Cornelius A. Smith and his wife, who received and extended a cordial greetings to the Cuban guest.
