Cuban Deputy Prime Minister visits key technology centers in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, July 29, 2025.- As part of his participation in the Second Stocktaking Moment of the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS+4), Cuba’s Deputy Prime Minister, Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, visited two of Ethiopia’s most prominent technology institutions: the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute (EAII) and the Information Network Security Administration (INSA).

During the tour, the Deputy Prime Minister held substantive exchanges with directors and specialists from both institutions on the development and application of artificial intelligence technologies, cybersecurity and digital transformation.

The Cuban delegation had the opportunity to learn firsthand about ongoing projects, laboratories, and technological platforms at the EAII, as well as Ethiopia’s national approach to using AI in strategic sectors such as health, agriculture, education, and public administration. At INSA, discussions focused on cyber defense, protection of critical infrastructure, and digital sovereignty.

This exchange marks a significant step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation in science and technology and reaffirms the mutual interest in fostering ties in high-impact areas for sustainable development.
