On April 29, the Cuban Embassy in Monrovia hosted the Cuba-Liberia bilateral seminar on strengthening bilateral relations, an event commemorating the 51st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two non-aligned and third-world nations.
With the presence of Ambassador Dr. Indira López Arguelles, the Association of Solidarity with Cuba, and representatives from 18 of the country's ministries, including the Deputy Ministers of Health, Education, Finance, Gender and Social Protection, and Agriculture, the event allowed for the identification of specific and necessary interests to strengthen ties between the two nations.
Furthermore, the occasion provided an opportune setting to reiterate the Liberian people's gratitude to Cuban doctors for their work against Ebola, the denunciation of the US blockade against the Cuban people, and the commitment of the Caribbean nation to the principles of South-South cooperation and its contribution to the development of the African continent.
