Cuban Embassy in Ethiopia commemorates July 26, Day of National Rebellion

Addis Ababa, July 26, 2025.-The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Ethiopia held a commemorative event for the Day of National Rebellion, in honor of the 72 anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks.

During the event, a warm welcome was extended to comrade Elizabeth Peña, Director of Urban, Suburban, and Family Agriculture at the Ministry of Agriculture of Cuba, who is currently in Addis Ababa as part of the Cuban delegation participating in the Second Summit on Food Systems taking place in the Ethiopian capital.

The gathering brought together solidarity friends, members of the Cuban-Ethiopian community, and representatives from the Embassies of Colombia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, and Mexico—sister nations with which Cuba shares historic bonds of fraternity, resistance, and the struggle for the sovereignty of our peoples.

In her opening remarks, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Cuban Diplomatic Mission, Natalys Dinza, emphasized the significance of July 26 as a symbol of dignity, social justice, and anti-imperialist struggle:

"To celebrate July 26 is to pay tribute to the martyrs of the homeland, to the bravery of our people, and to the unbreakable spirit of struggle for sovereignty, social justice, and the full dignity of human beings," she affirmed.
