The Cuban film “El Benny” will be screened as part of the Ibero-American Film Festival in Vienna

Vienna, March 11. The Cuban film “El Benny,” directed by Jorge Luis Sánchez, was screened last night at the Cervantes Institute in Vienna as part of the “Ibero-American Film Nights” series, which runs from March 9 to 13.

The film, which explores the life and work of renowned Cuban musician Benny Moré, was received with interest by the audience, which included Cubans living in Austria, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Vienna, officials from international organizations, and Austrian film lovers of Ibero-American cinema.

Prior to the screening, the Cuban Ambassador to Austria, Pablo Berti Oliva, gave a presentation on the film to the audience, highlighting the importance of Benny Moré’s music as part of Cuba’s cultural heritage and its enduring relevance to the island’s musical identity.

The event was attended by the director of the Cervantes Institute in Vienna, Mila Crespo Picó, the institution hosting this film series as part of its efforts to promote Spanish-language culture in Austria. Crespo Picó thanked the Ambassador for Cuba’s regular participation in the Institute’s activities and reaffirmed the invitation for other Cuban works to be included in the Institute’s programming.
