Cuban film heritage and architecture

The University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM) hosted a conference dedicated to Cuba's film heritage and architecture.

Representatives of the Cuban Embassy in Canada, the Consulate General in Montreal and the Office of the Historian of Havana attended the meeting, highlighting the ties that unite both countries as well as the values of our culture.

As part of the event, Consul General of Cuba in Montreal, Susana Malmierca, pointed the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the excellent academic relations between UQAM and Cuban institutions.

Aileen Carmenaty, Press and Cultural Attaché of the Cuban Embassy in Canada, spoke about the role played by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC) on its 66th anniversary, the history of filmmaking on the island, its main filmmakers, international recognition and the inscription of the collection of Cuban film posters as UNESCO's Documentary Heritage of Humanity.
