Arequipa, Peru, Jun 11, 2020.- The Cuban doctors who are fighting the novel SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in Arequipa, southern Peru, start a new day deployed in two groups, one destined to attend patients admitted into hospitals and the other to investigate new cases.
This is how the 26 physicians who came to work in one of the hardest-hit Peruvian territories in the pandemic were organized, which on Wednesday reported 208,823 cases and 5,903 deaths nationwide.
In coordination with local health authorities, a group will be itinerant and will work along with Arequipa's medical personnel, the group's coordinator, Yanet Fernandez, told Prensa Latina.
The other group, in charge of Eliecer Hernandez, was assigned to the Honorio Delgado Hospital, dedicated to coronavirus patients, and, as coordinated with the hosts, they will be in the intensive care unit and the hospitalization room.
